The apartment in Santa Apolónia is located on the first floor of a Pombaline building whose interior has been weighed down by the layers of time and the needs of those who have lived there.
The intervention required, in this sense, a redefinition of the essentials in a search for the identity of the house and the consequent enhancement of its characteristics.
The existing structure and infrastructure dictated the location of the kitchen and bathroom. The Saint Andrew's crosses were properly treated and used as a built curtain, separating the spaces. We therefore sought to create a flexible and transparent house, where the different rooms are indistinct and their boundaries unknown.
However, it is possible to separate the living room and bedroom with a sliding wall, satisfying the need for privacy.
